Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is expected to miss multiple games after he sprained his left foot during Sunday’s game in Oakland, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Jaguars had already ruled their starting tailback out for their Week 8 game against Green Bay, but Jones-Drew reportedly did not suffer a Lisfranc injury and will not require surgery.

Jacksonville is already ranked last in the NFL in total offensive yards per game, and Jones-Drew is their lone relatively consistent offensive presence. The seven-year veteran and three-time Pro Bowl selection leads the team with 86 carries and 414 yards. He has scored only one touchdown to date, but his 4.8 yards per carry average is his best since his 2006 rookie season.

Rashad Jennings, who began the season as the team’s starter after Jones-Drew’s training camp holdout, will assume the starting role. The 27-year-old is averaging just 2.6 yards per carry this season but had a season-high 44 yards and a score on 21 carries after Jones-Drew left Sunday’s game.

The Jaguars desperately need production from Jennings to have any chance of keeping pace with the high-flying Packers — especially if starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert is unable to play. Gabbert suffered a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder again Oakland, but if the injury does not require surgery, the team expects him to be able to play through the discomfort.

Early lines have Jacksonville listed as a 13-point underdog on the road at Green Bay.
