Refs will throw pink flags at Dolphins-Jets game

There’ll be a little more pink on one NFL field this weekend, the last in Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

At MetLife Stadium, officials working the Miami Dolphins-New York Jets game will heave bright pink penalty flags rather than yellow ones. The idea came from a young fan who wrote to Commissioner Roger Goodell: “My name is Dante Cano. I am 11 years old and I am from Marlboro, New Jersey. I wanted to know if you could use my idea of pink penalty flags in October for breast cancer awareness. Please write back.”

Goodell invited the boy to the game — he said yes, on the condition that he be allowed to bring his sister — and he’ll present the flags to officials before kickoff.
