Hernandez played in each of New England’s last two games after missing three games with the injury, which came late in Week 2 when teammate Julian Edelman rolled up on Hernandez’s ankle as he was tackled. Last week Hernandez declared himself back to form, telling reporters, “It healed and I’m better now.”
The 22-year-old tight end tied for fifth in the NFL in receptions (79), fourth in receiving yardage (910) and tied for fourth in touchdowns (7) among all tight ends a year ago. That production landed him a massive five-year contract extension in the offseason.
Hernandez has 17 catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns this season.
