Doug Martin can’t outrun “Muscle Hamster”

Ah, if only nicknames were as easily outrun as defensive players. Life would be far easier for Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin, a k a The Muscle Hamster.

“It has to be the worst nickname ever,” Martin told “NFL AM.” “I can’t shake it. It started in college, started back in Boise [at Boise State], with our linemen. I have a lot of bigger friends, and they’d call me the Muscle Hamster because of how much I could lift in the weight room.”

Fortunately, Martin, who stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 215 pounds, was too busy scoring touchdowns to see how “Muscle Hamster” was trending Sunday on Twitter. At this point, he’s probably just going to have to live with it. If he’s smart, he’ll get the good folks at Disney on the line.
