Serena Williams managed to play on in the Australian Open after rolling her ankle last week, but clearly it was still bothering her.
Shortly after losing to Sloane Stephens in a quarterfinal match, she tweeted a picture of what appears to be her ankle with the simple description “Ouch.” And she wasn’t exaggerating when she described how it swelled each day after she injured it in her first-round match, although it’s not possible to tell when the photo was taken.
“I’ve had a tough two weeks between the ankle, which is like this big every day,” she said, “and my back.”
