Sidney Crosby was none the worse for taking a puck to the face during the Pittsburgh Pensuins’ 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Wednesday night.

He was hit early in the second period, then returned to the ice after only a few minutes. For a guy who has battled concussions and their aftermath, it was a fairly scary moment when the puck grazed his face and his head snapped backward. After the game, Crosby was joking about his swollen nose.
“Am I gushing still? I can’t tell,” he said (via the Associated Press) as he dabbed at his nose. “It’s not a very comfortable situation to be in when you’re gushing. Nice surprise. I’m glad that it’s not broken.”
