The Green Bay Packers will release Charles Woodson, the NFL’s defensive player of the year three years ago.
“They’re getting ready to release him. It’s part of the business,” agent Carl Poston told the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. “I just talked to him. He sounds like he has a lot of football left. He’d like to go play for a contender, win another Super Bowl.”
Woodson, the top defensive player of the league in 2009, was moved to safety last season as his cover skills declined at the age of 36.
He seemed to confirm the impending news on his Twenty-Four Wines Twitter account:
Thank you Green Bay it was a great run! twitter.com/TwentyFourWine…
