A wild Friday featured both some rolling favorites — Louisville and Duke — and perhaps this NCAA tournament’s greatest game. It also bore witness to the to the captivating foreclosure of Dunk City. Here’s your nightly recap of all the action.
Best game/finish: Given that three games were decided by at least eight points, this one isn’t exactly a tough decision. But what an evening transpired at Cowboys Stadium, and that was even after Trey Burke started launching game-tying three-pointers from alternate area codes. This NCAA tournament’s first overtime game ended in head-scratching fashion with Elijah Johnson’s drive-and-kick at the buzzer, but even that couldn’t diminish the overall thrill.
Best performance: Burke’s late-game heroics were impressive, but Russ Smith is making a strong case as the tournament’s best player. He racked up 31 points on Oregon, dominating on both ends, shooting 9 for 16 from the field and making 12 free throws. Russdiculous indeed.
Best Fonzi impression: Florida Gulf Coast’s Sherwood Brown, getting a picture with a Florida cheerleader.

Best bounce pass: Peyton Siva, with probably the second GIF-able bounce pass of the entire tournament (behind FGCU Brett Comer).
Weirdest story: Worldwide Wes gets banned from credential areas in Indianapolis.
Best set-up: History will come alive in the Midwest final.
Duke vs. Louisville in regional final. Krzyzewski versus Pitino… Hmm where I have seen that before? Oh right, 1992… Spectrum… Philly.

Least interested interviewee: Joakim Noah with Craig Sager. The Bulls star stopped mid-interview to yell “Get back on defense” during a FGCU dunk, and never really looked at Sager once the entire time.
