Michigan’s Nik Stauskas can’t miss

Michigan is absolutely shredding Florida so far in Sunday’s South Region final, leading 47-30 at halftime. The Wolverines jumped out to a 13-0 lead and freshman Mitch McGary had eight points and six rebounds before the first officials’ timeout.

But McGary’s lesser-known classmate, guard Nik Stauskas, has stolen his thunder since then. The Mississauga, Ontario, native already has 19 points on 6-of-6 shooting, including five three-pointers. Michigan’s 47 points are the most Florida has allowed in the first half all season. Stauskas is really happy about it, too (H/T The Big Lead).

Stauskas was Michigan’s best three-point shooter this season, but had made just 2 of his previous 16 attempts from three-point range entering Sunday’s game. It’s safe to say that dry spell is over.

Did we mention Stauskas’s first half also included a nifty pass to set up McGary for a dunk? (H/T SB Nation)

But before you start penciling in Michigan to face Syracuse in the Final Four next week, let’s not forget some recent history.
