It can’t be easy to go back to college after becoming the first freshman to be awarded the Heisman Trophy, but Johnny Manziel isn’t making it any easier on himself.

The Texas A&M quarterback, who cryptically tweeted over the weekend that “[expletive] like tonight is a reason why I can’t wait to leave College Station … whenever it may be,” quickly realized he shouldn’t have pressed “send.”

Manziel, who is only 20, later deleted the tweet and fired off a new one:

Manziel now how a greater appreciation for just how closely his utterances are followed, an A&M coach told CBS Sports. Which is a good thing, since he must play another year in College Station before he can see if his skills convert to the NFL. He’s done a lot of things right at A&M and plenty wrong, as the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Mark Bradley notes:

Let’s see: Heisman winner, idol of millions, friend of James Harden – are those shoes really so uncomfortable? Just by saying that, I realize I’m stamping myself as a HATER, but let’s be clear. I don’t hate Johnny Manziel. I just hate that he seems determined to take a great story and turn it into a cautionary tale.
