Mitch Williams, the former “Wild Thing” as a pitcher and now an MLB Network analyst, used a clip of Arizona pitcher Brandon McCarthy being hit in the head by a line drive last year to illustrate a point about challenging hitters Wednesday night and was greeted by a Twitter storm.
Williams explained that pitchers should pitch in to Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers and a clip of McCarthy being hit in the head by a line drive followed, along with one of Williams getting hit by a comebacker to the mound.
“If you don’t pitch in, this is what’s gonna happen.” – Mitch Williams, during a clip of @BMcCarthy32‘s injury last year.

McCarthy wasn’t pleased and fired back, taking Wild Thing downtown on Twitter on Wednesday.
McCarthy used Twitter hilariously after his frightening incident when he was with Oakland last year, tweeting from the hospital as he recovered from surgery to repair a skull fracture. His tweets about Williams sparked an overnight Twitter stream, all of them shared by McCarthy:
