Meghan Rutledge’s fist pump costs her X Games win (video)

There’s an art to the fist pump. It seems so simple, so deceptively, aggravatingly simple until something goes so very wrong. Last week, it was Chad Qualls taking a tumble.

Over the weekend, it was motorcyle racer Meghan Rutledge’s turn to be embarrassed.  She pumped her fist during the final big jump in the Moto-X race she was leading in the X Games in Los Angeles … and wiped out.

“I was out there leading. I’m really young. I’ve never led an X Games before,” Rutledge told ESPN. “I celebrated a bit too early and made a mistake, unfortunately, which gave Vicki Golden an opening to take first again. If I had stayed on the bike, there was no way I could have lost. I had one straight to go. But, you know, mistakes happen.”
