There’s an art to the fist pump. It seems so simple, so deceptively, aggravatingly simple until something goes so very wrong. Last week, it was Chad Qualls taking a tumble.

Over the weekend, it was motorcyle racer Meghan Rutledge’s turn to be embarrassed.  She pumped her fist during the final big jump in the Moto-X race she was leading in the X Games in Los Angeles … and wiped out.

“I was out there leading. I’m really young. I’ve never led an X Games before,” Rutledge told ESPN. “I celebrated a bit too early and made a mistake, unfortunately, which gave Vicki Golden an opening to take first again. If I had stayed on the bike, there was no way I could have lost. I had one straight to go. But, you know, mistakes happen.”
