Von Miller’s suspension is not moving in the right direction.

The Denver Broncos linebacker is likely to be suspended at least six games, rather than four, for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, ESPN reports. Negotiations are continuing, however, with Miller’s representatives trying to get the suspension reduced to four games.

The Broncos will begin preparing for their regular-season opener Sept. 5 against the Baltimore Ravens knowing they’ll be without Miller. And, in another blow to the defense, cornerback Champ Bailey may miss several weeks with a serious foot sprain.
