In retrospect, the possibility of a guy nicknamed “Kickalicious” was just too wonderful to co-exist with the buttoned-down world of the NFL. We should have known better.
The Detroit Lions, on Tuesday, cut Havard Rugland, the internet kicking phenom with the best nickname since “He Hate Me,” as they reduced their roster to 75 players. Rugland nailed all three of his field-goal attempts (from 49, 50 and 33 yards) and usually kicked off in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to dislodge David Akers.
Now, Kickalicious may be gone, but video of the 28-year-old kicker from Norway lives on.
