If New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft had his way and roster spots to burn, he’d keep Tim Tebow on his team.
“I’m rooting for [Tebow] and I’m in his corner,” Kraft said (via the Boston Globe), “but I have the privilege of letting Bill make those decisions.
“He’s got a pretty good record.”
That would be Bill Belichick who will be deciding whether Tebow, whom Kraft called “a very special young man,” gets a roster spot behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett.
“He’s been a real joy to have around here,” Kraft said of Tebow, who is likely to get a ton of playing time in the Patriots’ preseason finale against the New York Giants on Thursday night. Tebow survived the first round of cuts and said he’s just “focused on today.”
Belichick praised Tebow, saying “he is great to work with,” but he wasn’t tipping his hand. (The most he revealed: “Quarterbacks are quarterbacks.”) Rosters must be reduced to 53 players by Saturday.
