No sooner did LeBron James set foot in the Bahamas for Miami Heat training camp than he was asked about Michael Jordan’s claim that “I don’t think I would lose” if he could play James, among other present and former stars, one-on-one in his prime.
“MJ said that?” LBJ asked in an Atlantis Paradise Island Resort ballroom (via the Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman). “I’ve thought about the matchup, but no one will ever see it and it’s not going to happen.
“It’s good for people to talk about.”
Especially since His Airness, 50, made the comment in a video promoting NBA 2K14, which by happy coincidence goes on sale today. “I don’t think I would lose,” Jordan said as he ticked off the names of stars like Carmelo Anthony, Elgin Baylor, Julius Erving, Jerry West and Dwyane Wade, “other than to Kobe Bryant, because he steals all of my moves.”
James professed to be unaware of the comment. “It was from my game?” he asked members of the media.
“It’s a good promotion, then.”
