Wes Welker missed several games this season because of concussion symptoms and, when he returned to the field in the playoffs, he was wearing an enormous new type of helmet designed to protect him.
On Tuesday at Media Day for Super Bowl XLVIII, the Denver Broncos wide receiver said he’d play in Sunday’s game even if doctors advised against it.
“What do you think?” Welker said in answer to a question from Randy Moss, his former New England Patriots teammate. Moss is now working for Fox Sports 1. “You know. You want to be out there. It’s the Super Bowl. Like, this is what you dream about. You’re gonna be there. I don’t care what it takes.”
Welker, 32, missed the last three regular-season games.
