The Punchline: It ends with a grandma using a plastic squeeze bottle, which has a decidedly less harmonic emission.
The Verdict: Yes, the act of hitting your ketchup bottle is a widely shared experience — but it’s strange that in its first Super Bowl ad in 16 years, Heinz would want to emphasize one of the most annoying things about bottled ketchup. People buy the squeeze bottles for a reason. Not to mention the fact that they’re doing it wrong: On the Heinz website, it says that the best way to get ketchup moving is to tap the neck of the bottle, not the base.
