NCAA Tournament 2014: U-Conn. picks up OT win over Saint Joseph’s

BUFFALO, NY – MARCH 20: Shabazz Napier #13 of the Connecticut Huskies goes to the basket as DeAndre Bembry #43 and Ronald Roberts, Jr. #13 of the Saint Joseph’s Hawks defend during the second round of the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at the First Niagara Center on March 20, 2014 in Buffalo, New York. After seventh-seeded Connecticut took a one-year hiatus from the NCAA tournament, guard Shabazz Napier struggled mightily from the floor  (7-for-22 shooting), but the star guard scored a team-high 22 points and hit a big bucket in overtime to put No. 10 Saint Joseph’s away in an 89-81 overtime win.

With the same lineup on the floor for the entire second half, Hawks Coach Phil Martelli trusted his starters to win the Hawks first NCAA tournament game since 2004. Senior Langston Galloway finished with a game-high 23 points. Wave goodbye to the best hair in the tournament and its owner, DeAndre Bembry of Saint Joseph’s.
