NCAA tournament: Kansas center Joel Embiid warms up, still out vs. Stanford

The Kansas Jayhawks will tip off their second-round NCAA tournament game against No. 10 Stanford still without freshman center Joel Embiid, who has been sidelined by a back injury since the penultimate game of the regular season. Embiid has been ruled out for Sunday, and Coach Bill Self told that Embiid would be “questionable” should Kansas advance into the Sweet 16, where upstart Dayton awaits.

Still, the Jayhawks received an encouraging development on Sunday morning, when Embiid took the floor for warmups. He averaged 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game for Kansas this season, adding a new dimension of rim protection inside for the Big 12 regular season champions.
