The tattoo that Kentucky fan got last month — the one that now so very erroneously celebrated the Wildcats’ ninth national championship — isn’t going anywhere.
Tyler Austin Black, 22, told ESPN.com that “2014 NATI9NAL CHAMPIONS UK” will not be lasered away despite Kentucky’s 60-54 loss to Connecticut.
“I’m keeping it,” Black said. “It’s a way to remember this team and it’s part of my life story.”
It’s also part of his right calf. The tat was a longshot, like Kentucky, when Black got it. The Wildcats were unranked and were only a No. 8 seed going into the NCAA tournament when Black shelled out $80 for the ink, but there are only so many fans who can correctly predict a championship with a tattoo in one year and a Seattle Seahawks fan has that covered for 2014. Tim Connors got his “Super Bowl XLVIII Champs” tattoo in the summer of 2013.
