The Ultimate Warrior, one of pro wrestling’s legendary performers from the 1990s, died last week from cardiovascular disease, Phoenix officials said Monday.

Maricopa County spokeswoman Cari Gerchick announced the results of an autopsy conducted Thursday by the medical examiner’s office. Warrior, whose given name was James Hellwig, collapsed and died April 8 as he was walking with his wife to their car at a Scottsdale hotel. Warrior, 54, was inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 5 and addressed the “WWE Raw” crowd the night before he died.

On Monday night, WWE paid tribute to him, with a “Raw is Warrior” video.
