It may be the most overhyped day on the sports calendar (which is saying something), but that doesn’t means it’s not a biggie.
We’re talking, of course, about The Day on Which the NFL Schedule Is Released, also known as a few moments on which autumn plans suddenly spring into focus. Although teams have known the identity of their opponents since the regular season ended, the release date of the schedule varies as parties wrangle over dates.
Now, April 22 reportedly is the day on which the schedule is likely to drop, according to Pro Football Talk. That could change to Wednesday or Thursday, which gives you some idea of the fluidity of what seems like such a simple process.
In other words, it’ll arrive when it arrives, as NFL PR man Brian McCarthy noted earlier this week.
contrary to some tweets, the #NFL ’14 schedule will not be released this week. we will announce when we will announce it— Brian McCarthy (@NFLprguy) April 14, 2014
