Tennessee will introduce Donnie Tyndall as its new men’s basketball coach at a 2 p.m. news conference on Tuesday.
Tyndall, who replaces Cuonzo Martin, comes to Knoxville from Southern Mississippi, where he went 56-17 over two seasons and led the Golden Eagles to two National Invitation Tournament appearances. Before that, he spent six seasons as coach at Morehead State, where he led the Eagles to two NCAA tournament appearances. Tyndall has SEC experience as an LSU assistant from 1997 to 2001, and also was an assistant at Middle Tennessee.
Tyndall’s hiring leaves Missouri as the only power-conference program without a head coach. Kim Anderson, who led Central Missouri to the Division II title last season and both played and was an assistant coach at Missouri, is reportedly a front-runner.
