’90s jock jam fails to help the Thunder ‘Whoomp!’ the Grizzlies

We’re not so sure it deserves the moniker “Breaking News,” but that’s how TMZ Sports labeled the surprising performance of ’90s rap duo Tag Team at Tuesday’s a recent NBA playoff game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Memphis Grizzlies. Anyone who’s ever awkwardly done the running man to the 1993  jock jam “Whoomp! There It Is!” should’ve been delighted. Unfortunately, fans in Oklahoma City Memphis were not.

Well, that was awkward.

Besides failing to move the crowd, the lackluster 21-years-too-late performance failed to get the Thunder going, too. Memphis ended up winning that game 98-95.  Oklahoma City lost to Memphis, 99-100 in overtime. Currently, the Thunder trails the Grizzlies two games to three in the series. The two teams (minus Tag Team) are set to face each other in Game 6 on Thursday night in Memphis.
