It’s both a good and bad time to be an NBA coach. On the plus side, there are lots of job openings. On the negative side, that’s only because a lot of people are getting fired. The latest in this bunch is the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Mike Brown. Yahoo! sports writer Marc Spears broke the news of Brown’s ouster on Twitter.
Cavaliers announce firing of Mike Brown as head coach.— Marc J. Spears (@SpearsNBAYahoo) May 12, 2014
Brown’s firing comes just one year after he’d been rehired. He’d previously been let go by the Cavaliers in 2010, Brown was also fired by the Lakers in 2012.
The Cavaliers opening is one of four fairly high-profile coaching opportunities currently available in the NBA. The New York Knicks, L.A. Lakers and Golden State Warriors are also looking for replacements for coaches they ousted earlier this year.
Social media, predictably, is having a pretty good time at Brown’s expense:
