Floyd Mayweather Jr. knows when he’ll fight again, but he doesn’t know who will be his opponent.

The undefeated welterweight champion will face someone on Sept. 13, ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael reports.

Mayweather, 46-0, defeated Marcos Maidana on May 3 and the fourth of his six-fight deal with Showtime will take place at a venue that has not yet been determined. A rematch against Maidana, who lost to Mayweather by majority decision, or a bout against Amir Khan is possible.

“Obviously, Las Vegas is his home,” Mayweather Promotions chief executive Leonard Ellerbe said, “and the MGM Grand is always the leading candidate but we will take a look at our other options.”

Taking the fight to New York is a possibility, although Mayweather’s last nine fights have taken place at the MGM Grand. Maybe the Barclays Center?

“[Barclays Center chief executive] Brett [Yormark] and those guys at the Barclays Center made a tremendous offer for the Maidana fight and I’m sure they’ll be looking to be in the Floyd Mayweather business again come September,” Ellerbe said, “but the MGM is Floyd’s home and they are always the leading candidate.”
