French Open reporter mistakenly congratulates loser, awkwardness ensues

A reporter started off Nicolas Mahut’s press conference at the French Open with a simple statement, “Congratulations.”

Only one problem – Mahut didn’t win.


The 40th-ranked Mahut, who lost 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-4, to world No. 54 Mikhail Kukushkin, seemed to handle the mix-up rather deftly.
