Watch Kazuhito Tadano throw the world’s most ridiculous eephus pitch

The name “eephus” already sounds ridiculous, so it’s no wonder this rarely seen type of pitch looks the part, too. But the eephus pitch thrown by the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters’ Kazuhito Tadano against Hanshin Tigers hitter Mauro Gomez on Sunday was just plain silly.

No one knows what to do! Was it a ball? Was it a strike? The debate is still open on the Internet, but not on the field. Despite sailing slowly over the plate, Tadano’s eephus ended up being ruled a ball. The Tigers went on to win, 4-1.

What do you think? Is that a ball or a strike?
