“Support a world where every athlete can be #ProudtoPlay.” That’s the tagline of YouTube’s latest video campaign, which launched today, just over a week before World Cup play is set to start in Brazil.
The video features several gay athletes, including NBA player Jason Collins, Olympic diver Tom Daley, NFL draft pick Michael Sam, soccer player Robbie Rogers, WWE superstar Darren Young, as well as dozens of supporters of all sexual orientations, including high-profile stars Neymar Jr. and Kobe Bryant. YouTube writes of the video:
“Stereotypes are like records: made to be broken. Scoring a hat trick. Taking home the gold. Anyone can set the pace for the rest of the world. All it takes is determination, sweat, and heart.
It doesn’t matter what you look like, where you’re from, or who you love. All that matters is that you give it everything you’ve got for the team.
Let’s support a world where every athlete can be proud of who they are. Proud of where they’ve been. Proud of what’s to come.”
