‘Game of Thrones’ giant played basketball at North Carolina, Holy Cross

Last week’s episode of “Game of Thrones” featured a guy who could dead-lift 994 pounds and once garnered some interest from the Indianapolis Colts. This week’s episode, “The Watchers on the Wall,” needed some very tall people to play giants, so naturally they turned to a former basketball player, namely Neil Fingleton, who played at North Carolina and Holy Cross.

Fingleton, who has been listed as somewhere between 7 feet 6 and 7-8, also appeared in “X-Men: First Class” and “47 Ronin.” According to Wikipedia, he’s 7 feet 7.56 inches and is the tallest British-born man in the world. He’ll also be in the upcoming movie “Jupiter Ascending,” if Wikipedia is to be believed. He started his college basketball career at North Carolina early this century before transferring to Holy Cross.
