Hope Solo is expected to appear in a Kirkland, Wash., court Monday after her arrest early Saturday morning on domestic violence assault charges.

Solo, star goalie for the U.S. national women’s soccer team, has been held without bail in the South King County jail since police arrested her for allegedly assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew. Solo, who turns 33 next month, was taken into custody after a 911 call in which a man said that a woman would not stop “hitting people” or leave the home Solo shares with her husband, former NFL player Jerramy Stevens, Kirkland police said. According to their report, Solo’s nephew and sister had visible injuries and police said Solo was the “primary aggressor.” She is being held under her married name, Hope Amelia Stevens, on two charges of domestic violence assault in the fourth degree.

“Hope is not guilty of any crime,” her attorney, Todd Maybrown, told the Seattle Times and Associated Press in an email. “In fact, our investigation reveals that Hope was assaulted and injured during this unfortunate incident. We look forward to the opportunity to present the true facts in court and to having this matter behind Hope very soon.”

Solo married Stevens, a former NFL player for the Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in November 2012, shortly after he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting Solo, but charges were never brought because there was insufficient evidence. Solo, who has played on two Olympic gold-medal winning teams, appeared as a contestant on ABC television’s “Dancing with the Stars” in 2011.
