Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he’ll fight Marcos Maidana again in September

Floyd Mayweather Jr. made the announcement quietly before the BET Awards on Sunday night and Marcos Maidana confirmed that talks were underway on Twitter.

Soon, there is expected to be a formal announcement that a rematch between the two fighters is on, scheduled for a Sept. 13 Showtime PPV event. Mayweather said during an interview with LaTen Media before Sunday night’s BET Awards that he again would be facing Maidana, whom he outpointed in a tough welterweight unification bout May 3.

“Sept. 13, back to business, Marcos Maidana-Floyd Mayweather, part II,” Mayweather said in an interview with LaTen media. “And then in May, I’m fighting in May and I’ll have a big surprise for ya’ll.”

Maidana’s manager said he hoped to have an announcement this week and Maidana tweeted:
