The Hartford Courant reported Monday that Patriots Coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft, along with several other team employees, were interviewed by detectives looking into Aaron Hernandez’s possible involvement in the death of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez is also facing trial for a double murder committed a year before Lloyd’s death.
Detectives collected statements from Belichick and Kraft, as well as from the Patriots’ director of football, director of player personnel and two strength coaches. Court filings indicate that prosecutors have turned over to defense attorneys, as evidence, 33 pages of text messages from Belichick to Hernandez, from February 2013 to May 2013.
From the Courant:
The texts start the same month that the former NFL star is accused in another shooting. East Hartford native Alexander Bradley, a key witness for the government in the Boston double homicide, claims in a civil lawsuit that Hernandez shot him in the eye and left him to die after an argument at a Florida nightclub on Feb. 13.
The Patriots released Hernandez shortly after his arrest for the June 2013 murder of Lloyd.
