Watch what happens when you mix Mike Magee, Hope Solo and ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’

Uh-oh. Wasn’t taking time off from soccer what made U.S. Men’s National Team Coach Jurgen Klinsmann leave MLS star Landon Donovan off the World Cup team this year? Thankfully for MLS MVP Mike Magee, though, his “day off” is just a spoof, and a pretty good one at that.

“Mike Magee’s Day Off,” a take on the ’80s classic “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” stars the Chicago Fire player in the role of Ferris, with U.S. men’s defender Omar Gonzalez as Magee’s apprehensive best friend, U.S. women’s star Sydney Leroux as Magee’s girlfriend, and U.S. women’s goalkeeper Hope Solo as Magee’s meddling sister. The New York Red Bulls’ Thierry Henry, USMNT’s Michael Bradley and even a couple of non-soccer stars also make cameos.

At around three minutes, the short film is definitely worth the watch:
