Ernie Els hit a spectator on his first tee shot at British Open, then three-putted from two feet

Two-time British Open winner Ernie Els did not get off to a good start at this year’s tournament, hitting a spectator with his tee shot on the first hole and then turning what looked to be a routine tap-in into a tragic misadventure.


Els followed up that triple-bogey 7 on the first hole with a bogey-5 on the second.
