You may have heard about Paul George’s gruesome injury suffered at Team USA’s intrasquad scrimmage. You may even have watched it (warning: don’t watch it). Either way, you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that, after having surgery to repair a compound fracture in his right leg, George won’t be walking anytime soon.
Of course, that means George won’t be driving anytime soon, either. But he does have a brand-new car capable of inspiring a strong effort to get behind the wheel of it.
On Monday, George posted a photo of a Ferrari 458 on Instagram, along with this caption:
Shoutout my guy @roadstarrmotorsports for gettin me right again.. He hooked this one up! Although I can’t drive for a while I can still look at it!!! #FerrariBoyz #458 #OneofOne #CantWaitToGetBetter #AlwaysWantedOne #Italia #DreamCar #NowIGotIt #Blessed
Further proof that sports stars are not Just Like Us! When we get laid up in the hospital, we get maybe some cards, flowers and visits from concerned relatives. George gets visits from Floyd Mayweather Jr. and a $250,000 roadster that Car and Driver ranks No. 1 in its class. Of course, we don’t usually suffer compound fractures on national TV, so there’s that.
Ironically, George’s fracture came just as Derrick Rose was making a high-profile return from his own leg severe injuries. Even more ironically, Team USA candidate Andre Drummond recently made comments to TMZ Sports about George being in “good spirits” following his injury. When asked about Rose, Drummond had this to say:
“He’s a Ferrari amongst Nissans out there.”
