Call it a coincidence, because that’s most likely what it is. Two women linked romantically to former NFL star Tony Gonzalez are reportedly finalists for co-hosting positions on “The View,” The Kansas City Star reports. One of the women is Gonzalez’s wife, October, and the other is his ex-girlfriend and mother to one of his children, Los Angeles-based reporter Lauren Sanchez, who once tried out for “The View” in 1999 but did not get the job.

Both women reportedly participated in screen tests with current co-host Whoopi Goldberg and returning co-host Rosie O’Donnell, according to The Wrap.

Sanchez may have a slight advantage of her ex’s spouse, however. October Gonzalez does not have any entertainment experience, according the The Wrap, although she is represented by her husband’s manager.

Other sports-related candidates that The Wrap reports are still in the mix include ESPN’s Jemele Hill, co-host of “Numbers Never Lie,” and ESPN and ABC’s Sage Steele, the host of Friday and Sunday evening broadcasts of “NBA Countdown.”
