Timberwolves, 76ers reportedly have deal in place to swap Anthony Bennett for Thaddeus Young

Earlier this week, news broke that the Cleveland Cavaliers would be acquiring all-star forward Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for 2014 No. 1 draft pick Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a conditional 2015 first-round draft pick. Now, the 76ers appear to be getting into the mix. The Philadelphia Daily News reports:

A source informed the Daily News that the Sixers will be sending veteran forward Thaddeus Young to Minnesota for a package that will include Bennett, the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA draft.

While none of the above transactions can be finalized until Aug. 23, when Wiggins becomes trade-eligible, the exact scenario of the second leg of the Love trade — the deal now between the Timberwolves and the Sixers — will likely come out before then.

Right now, sources have told the Daily News that Young is involved, but rumors are circulating that the first-round draft pick that Minnesota wrangled from Cleveland could end up with Philadelphia, as well.

The news of Minnesota’s reported deal for Young is not a surprise. The team expressed interested in the 26-year-old late last month when Timberwolves officials were weighing their options for trading Love, Sports Illustrated reports.

If the trade goes through, Young, 26, would bring with him some very respectable statistics to the Timberwolves. He averaged 17.9 points per game last season, as well as 6 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Love, meanwhile, is leaving the Timberwolves after having his best season. The 25-year-old averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and had 4.4 assists per game.
