Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor disses Kevin Love, Love responds like an adult

Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor seems to have temporarily forgotten where he lives, because his comments about Kevin Love’s departure to the Cleveland Cavaliers were everything but “Minnesota Nice.”

This week, Taylor told Derek Wetmore of Minneapolis’s ESPN 1500 radio station:

“I’m not saying that Kevin’s not good, but I think where maybe he got away with some stuff, not playing defense on our team, I’m not sure how that’s going to work in Cleveland. So I would guess they’re going to ask him to play more defense. And he’s foul-prone.”

Yikes! Those grapes are mighty sour! Maybe Taylor needs to take a page from the Timberwolves fans who, instead of burning Love’s jerseys decided to just wish him well instead. Or not. Taylor continued to throw shade on ESPN 1500:

“I question Kevin if this is going to be the best deal for him because I think he’s going to be the third player on a team. I don’t think he’s going to get a lot of credit if they do really well. I think he’ll get the blame if they don’t do well. He’s going to have to learn to handle that.”

Dang.

Love is taking Taylor’s words in stride, however. When told about the comments on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” today, Love brushed the comments off his shoulders like a bit of dandruff.

“I think emotions are definitely running high right now, and as I said yesterday in my presser, I enjoyed my six years and formed some great relationships in my time in Minnesota,” Love said. “For Glen to say that I just think that he should be focusing on the players he just received.”

In exchange for Love, the Timberwolves received Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Thaddeus Young in a three-way trade with the Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers.
