ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ featured beer, guns and Stone Cold Steve Austin

ESPN’s popular “College GameDay” returned to the airwaves today, and it proved to be in mid-season form. There was an amusing segment featuring “Mean tweets” read by Nick Saban and other prominent college coaches.

The guest picker was none other than wrestling legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who made his entrance the only way Stone Cold knows how.

Never one to outdone by, well, anybody, ESPN analyst/crazy uncle Lee Corso joined Austin for a little more brewski consumption.

Then it was time to make the picks, in today’s case, for the Florida State-Oklahoma State game in Arlington, Tex., later in the evening. (The show was in Fort Worth for the occasion, a neutral site but far closer to Stillwater, which would explain all the crab-related signs in the background.) Corso — who starred at Florida State in the 1950s — went chalk and picked the Seminoles, but then paid tribute to child-frightening Cowboys mascot Pistol Pete, nearly giving Austin a heart attack in the process.

He previously had used 'Desmond Bieler' as his byline, but feels that shortening the first name to 'Des' nicely conveys his ever-decreasing gravitas. He also covers Fantasy Football.
