Obamas to return to Chicago this weekend
The Obamas will return to Chicago this weekend, two weeks after a series of fundraisers last brought the first family home to the Windy City.
President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will arrive in Chicago on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The visit happens to coincide with the wedding of the daughter of White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, the Tribune notes, although the White House has declined to say whether the Obamas plan to attend the ceremony.
Jarrett, a Chicago native, is a longtime member of the Obamas’ innermost circle; her daughter, attorney Laura Jarrett, is marrying fellow attorney Tony Balkissoon.

Visits back to Chicago have been a relative rarity for Obama amid a heated campaign, although this weekend’s trip will mark the third time in the past month that Obama’s travels have brought him back home. In May, he visited Chicago for the NATO summit.
During his last visit, Obama held no public events, and that appears to be the case this weekend, too.
