Ron Paul laying Nevada groundwork
Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) is making a play for Nevada, where he’s hoping two weeks of outreach activities organized by his staff will help him cut into former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney’s (R) lead.

Paul is not expected to attend the 15 events, which take place from Jan. 6 through 19 and include voter registration drives, literature drops, phone banks and other activities. But the list of activities, released by his campaign Friday night, is an indication that the Texas Republican’s campaign organization is focused on a competitive showing in the Silver State.
Four years ago, Paul placed a distant second in Nevada’s GOP caucuses, taking 14 percent to Romney’s 51 percent.
The most recent poll of Nevada this time around, a mid-December Las Vegas Review-Journal survey, showed Paul performing about as well as he did in 2008: he took 13 percent, while Romney won 33 percent and former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) took 29 percent.
The schedule of events Paul’s campaign staff is organizing over the next two weeks is below. The list includes a “Hispanics for Ron Paul” event as well as an “LDS/Mormon Door to Door Walk,” both in Henderson, Nev.
