Today on the trail: Presidents’ Day in the Cradle of Presidents
It’s Presidents’ Day, and the top two Republican White House hopefuls are bringing their campaigns to Ohio, the state that’s second only to Virginia in the number of future presidents it has produced.

(AP Photo/Eric Gay)Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (R) holds an afternoon event in Cincinnati, while former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) holds a morning rally in Steubenville before heading to Michigan for three events in Romney’s home state.
Santorum will almost certainly be dogged by questions over his Saturday campaign-trail statement on Obama’s “phony theology,” a remark that the candidate said on Sunday wasn’t directed at the president’s religious beliefs.
Santorum made a brief swing away from Ohio Sunday night when he delivered an address at a megachurch outside of Atlanta, Ga. – where he again made remarks that are likely to stir up controversy, comparing the current mood in America to the complacency that marked America before World War II.
Newt Gingrich, meanwhile, picks up his campaign’s pace with two events in Oklahoma today, and Ron Paul visits North Dakota.
