Fox mole alleges visit by authorities

Joe Muto lived the life of the Fox News Mole for about a day, till he was outed by his employer and shown the door. And in case there’s another Fox Newser considering a similar moonlighting gig, that person should consider the tweets that Muto broadcast just this morning:

I just got search warranted at 6:30am by a very polite crew from the DA’s office. Took my iPhone, laptop, some old notebooks.

Plus this:

According to the warrant, Fox News is apparently accusing me of grand larceny, amongst other things.

And this:

I should have done something more innocuous, like hacked a dead girl’s phone and interfered with a police investigation.

Upshot: There will be no more moles at Fox News.

Details on the law-enforcement action that Muto is reporting are scarce right now. I have reached out to Muto, Gawker (the former Mole’s Internet home) and Fox, and I have made inquiries to locate the search warrant. Nothing has come back just yet. More to come.
