Gawker Media boss: Online, the ‘standards of publication are lower’

Media big shots who recite dull talking points and dodge questions are a hazard of this occupation. And that explains why this snippet from an NBC interview with Gawker Media boss Nick Denton is so refreshing. After pleading guilty to all manner of journalistic offenses — including rumor-mongering — Denton makes this disclosure about his properties:

People need to get their head around the fact that the Web is different — that we publish faster, we change faster, we correct faster. And frankly, the standards of publication are lower.

Now there’s a no-spin zone.
