Someone please explain the difference between:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.): He tells the Huffington Post in a recent interview that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney “didn’t pay any taxes for 10 years.” That extreme allegation is based on a single unnamed source.

The New York Post: It reports in July 2011 that the accuser of Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a prostitute. That extreme allegation is based on a single unnamed source.
