Last night brought the news that NBC News was sticking to its commitment not to apologize on air for having broadcast an interview with Kris Jenner of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” during the 9/11 moment of silence. The network did express regret to its affiliates, however. The New York Times took some criticism for leaving the commemoration off of its front page on anniversary day, and the Wall Street Journal gets an elbow or two as well for the same “offense.” Hold all news outlets — by all means! — accountable for chronicling the legacy of 9/11 and the lives of the bereaved. Just please don’t confine the analysis to the anniversary date, a narrow-minded and tyrannical pursuit.
