What’s Newt Gingrich’s TV future?

What’s your next gig, Newt? (Scott Olson - GETTY IMAGES)

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich took a spin through the editorial offices of The Post today, setting up an obvious question: What are your upcoming TV plans, sir?

No decision just yet, replied Gingrich. “I don’t know,” he said, noting that he’s going to wait until after the election to make a move. “Callista and I have talked about doing a daily show,” he said, joking/half-joking that one idea was to do something on the animal kingdom. Gingrich is a huge fan of zoos and particularly of pythons.

Gingrich was a Fox News contributor prior to his campaign for president, though he criticized the network earlier this year for an alleged tilt in its primary coverage, as opposed to what he described as a more neutral CNN. Fox News chief Roger Ailes said that Gingrich was “trying to get a job at CNN because he knows he isn’t going to get to come back to Fox News.”

When asked about Fox, Gingrich professed to have “many good friends” at the cable network.
