In defending the decision to sell Current TV to Al Jazeera, Al Gore tells the New York Times of the pan-Arab news giant: “Their global reach is unmatched and their coverage of major events like the Arab Spring is thorough, fair and informative.”

That assessment happens to conflict with those who say that Al Jazeera is anti-American; that Al Jazeera coddled Osama bin Laden; that Al Jazeera takes “anti-Israel and pro-terror positions“; that Al Jazeera is “Terror TV.”

Erik Wemple writes the Erik Wemple blog, where he reports and opines on media organizations of all sorts.
